In 1911 Howard Grubb, known as the father of landscape architecture married Lorrie Dunington, an English landscape architect. Roy H. Bishop was born in 1887 and graduated from the Toronto School of Architecture in 1912. He was a devote Catholic and designed a number of Roman Catholic churches in Ontario and in Buffalo, New York.

In 1932 he received the Signal Honour from the Architectural Institute of Canada for his design of the Masonic Temple. Many garden designers will complete several courses to learn about their profession and to hone their skills – some will also eventually go on to become landscape architects.
